Traditions for Children/Elf on the Shelf

Good Morning friends, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy!

Do you have any special traditions you do every Christmas season with your children?

When I was taking out my Christmas decorations I came across my son's Elf on the Shelf, now mind you he is now fifteen so the elf has been buried in the Christmas boxes for several years. Well, I thought why not bring him out! We always had fun making him do the craziest things and believe it or not my son knew the elf would disappear to the North Pole (report to Santa) if he was bad. My son named his elf "Bob" and Bob kept us entertained.

Sounds sort of crazy... right? Believe it or not it worked, he would try his hardest to be on his best behavior throughout the month of December. Isn't it funny how one silly elf has that much impact on our children's behavior.

The story behind The Elf of the Shelf is pretty interesting. The book that comes along with the elf tells a Christmas theme story, written in rhyme, that explains Santa knows who is naughty and nice. It tells children that from the day after Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve the elf will be watching over them for Santa then the elf will return to the North Pole until the next holiday season.

This tradition has been a craze since 2005 and now you can buy outfits, pets, other books and even download apps. This tradition went on for years in our family and believe it or not my son was happy to see "Bob" this year!

XOXO,

Sandy
